September 14 - 16, 2007 "THIRD ANNUAL STATEWIDE TRAIL RIDE" hosted by White Horse Equestrian Ministries Sitting at my computer, I’m looking at the “get acquainted” cards filled out by attendees of the 3rd Annual Statewide Trail Ride, September 14 at Lakeview Plantation. . and remembering what an exciting weekend it was! Even through the storms Thursday and Friday night – (where were you when the lights went out Saturday night). . I knew God had everything in control. After enjoying a good meal from the Paradises Chuck Wagon on Friday evening, we gathered at the shelter to hear from the fellowships represented, and enjoy refreshments and a few door prizes. Floyd Tidsworth, the SC Equestrian Ministries Consultant, thanked everyone for attending and spoke briefly about the Paul Daily event coming up in October, and other information from around the state. Those who had been in attendance for the past several years were recognized and received bags of alfalfa treats for their horses. Saturday morning, 23 riders, including 3 young folks were eager to ride as Hayward and his Rocky Mount horse guided us along the trails. Some were hoping to see the pigs, while others were looking for armadillos – I was just hoping not to get bucked off, haaaa! Asking God for His protection, we headed out and rode for almost three hours together, and stopped along the way for a break. Thank you to those who rode with us for the first time – I can’ t remember everyone, but here are a few – Andy Green from Irmo, Captain Rick Cramer, a firefighter from Bluffton, Bob and BJ Schwegl (father and son) from Aiken and David Cooper from Fort Gordon, GA. I’d like to share several comments from some of the folks who were with us for the Statewide weekend. Bethany Green, a young lady and member of the White Horse Equestrian Ministries had this to say, "This was my third year at the White Horse Equestrian Ministries trail ride at Lakeview Plantation. My dad and I had a wonderful time riding together. We enjoyed the pleasantly warm weather and the beautiful and nicely maintained trails. It was both Dad's and his horse's first trail ride and they did very well together. We had a great time meeting with other horse lovers and Christians and thoroughly enjoyed it. We look forward to next year!" Next, traveling from Appling Georgia, for their third year at the Equestrian Ministries Statewide Ride – Danny, Julie, their two young daughters Julianna and Mary Joe Eden. Ms. Julie wrote, ‘Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend, full of worship and praise. We really enjoyed the worship and getting to meet everyone in the different fellowships, and also enjoyed the wonderful door prizes. It was also very nice to have a cowboy service on Sunday. The groups that sang and gave testimonies were very encouraging and a blessing. It really made our weekend feel very spiritual even though we had to miss our own church, we still felt as if church had come to Lakeview Plantation. On Saturday evening, contemporary music and blue grass gospel filled the campground as we welcomed back the Youth Band of Cedar Creek Church from Aiken, SC and Royal Descendants, the Hardee family from Loris, SC. The music was great! Thanks to Cindy Ray, President of the Faith Riders fellowship for providing the delicious cold watermelon and brownies on Saturday night, plus your trucks headlights when the lights went out. That’s another story! As the 3rd Statewide Trail Ride came to a close, we enjoyed a Sunday morning breakfast together, compliments of Hayward and Dona Simmons. God’s presence filled the campground shelter as we sang I’ll Fly Away and Amazing Grace, and as God clearly spoke through Brother Larry Johnson’s message, “To Believe In Jesus.” Julie Eden so fittingly said . . .”we still felt as if church had come to Lakeview Plantation.” God was at Lakeview, and YOU were missed!! Happy Trails, Sister Roxie Williamson A very special thanks to all who attended, and supported this event. “May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You” |
