| South Carolina Equestrian Ministries Saturday January 16, was a cold wet, dreary day. Not a good day for riding but a great day for the annual SCEM Planning meeting. We all gathered at the South Carolina Baptist Convention in Columbia, SC. We had a group of about 25 members present. David Crowe began the meeting with a message and a word of prayer. Next we went right into the Fellowship reports. David Crowe went first and told about the Paul Daily events that were held in the spring. He was able to attend all three. Next we heard from the rest of the Fellowships that were present. It was so exciting to hear about all the various activities and all that God has done through the Fellowships over the past year. We also heard from Consultant Floyd Tidsworth as he gave an EMI update. EMI will no longer be collecting the $15.00 dues. So, dues will remain $20.00. SCEM state dues will remain $10.00 and local Fellowships will remain $10.00 also. It was stated that each local Fellowship could decide what their dues would be if any. Floyd also reminded us of that the World Equestrian Games will be September 25-October 10, 2010, at the Kentucky Horse Park. Save the Date! Everyone is encouraged to attend. He also told us of the progress with the development of the equestrian area at White Oak. Linda Turner read the financial report. Currently there is $1803.78 in the treasury. We received a generous $2000.00 donation from the SCBC. This donation made it possible to put on the Paul Daily events in April. It also covered the cost of our insurance. It was also decided to continue our participation with the SCHC Expo. After paying our fee of $250.00, the final total in the treasury will be $1553.78 to start off 2010. Lunch was provided by Ronnie Cox, and the SCBC. Everyone enjoyed a box lunch from Chick fil A. Join us in congratulating our 2010 president Anthony Fowler. All other officers remain the same, Vice President: Johnny Stokes, Secretary/Treasurer: Linda Turner, Publicity: Roxie Williamson Newsletter: Lori Smith, Website: Larry Johnson. Ronnie Cox reported on the progress of the development of the White Oak Equestrian area. The Grand Opening will be held Feb. 12 -13, 2009. Ronnie thanked members who helped with the clearing of trails. There will be 16 pull through camp sites and a 24 stall barn is being planned. To make reservations for the Grand opening go to scbaptist.org, Missions Mobilizations. It was decided we would have a booth at the South Carolina Horsemen’s Council 2010 Expo and Meeting. It will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010 in Camden, SC at the Westfall arena. All are encouraged to attend. Fellowships were encouraged to complete and submit their annual reports as soon as possible. Report forms can be found on the web site. The “Richard McDuffie” Spring Ride with be at Lakeview Plantation, April 16 – 18th, 2010 and hosted by Great Adventure Fellowship. The Fall Ride will be Oct. 22-24, at Croft State Natural Area again this year. The host Fellowship is to be determined. August 14, will be Leadership Development, place and time TBA.
